Thank you so much to everyone who came and helped to make The Saskatoon Comic and Entertainment Expo a Roaring success in 2016! Thank you especially to those who spent some of their time talking to me about The Timekeepers’ War, science fiction, writing, and publishing. I learned so much from my fellow exhibitors and a few visitors, too! And I nearly sold out of my stock, so that’s a pretty big bonus as well 😁 Next year I will be better prepared in every way!
Some highlights from the show:
-I was in the same building as William Shatner!
-I scored a couple of reviews, a magazine feature and a TV interview! So stay tuned for those…
-I literally promised everyone I talked to that Book 2 in The Timekeepers’ War trilogy will be out for next years’ show. So it’s crunch time for finishing The Children of Bathora.
I have once again been sadly absent from the online world. But I have been writing! I promise the sequel to The Timekeepers’ War is coming soon…
In the meantime, if you are local to the Saskatoon area, please come visit me at the Comic and Entertainment Expo September 19-20, 2015 at the Polaris Press booth (X35 on your handy little floor maps). I will be there with lots of paperback copies ($15CAD), a few limited edition hardcovers ($40CAD), and lots of time and enthusiasm for talking about my writing, your writing, or just writing in general. Probably some other stuff too. I like to chat!
If you bring your own copy I will be extra happy to sign it for you and might even have a little surprise for you. I also have a special offer for book clubs and book bloggers, so don’t hesitate to schmooze…
Hope to see you there! As always, thanks for reading 😀
Psssst! If you don’t already have a copy, you can get your ebooks here and your paperbacks here. Bedlam Press also has paperbacks and Limited Edition hardcovers! Please support us little guys 😉
I apologize for my absence the last few weeks. I had an unexpected hospital stay (don’t worry, everything is fine!) Now that I’m home again, and everything is settled, I am hoping to get back to business. I will be answering reader questions on Goodreads’ “Ask the Author” feature until the end of January. Please sign up or log in and fire away! Thanks!
October was a great month for The Timekeepers’ War! It reached the #4 spot for Paperback sales at Necro Publications, the first time I’ve made the top ten list. Also, the Hallowe’en Goodreads Giveaway is complete and the books have been shipped! I’m looking forward to hearing from the winners once they’ve had a chance to read The Timekeepers’ War. I was slightly disappointed to find that nobody participated in the WordPress and Facebook versions of the contest, but I realize that I didn’t do a great job of publicizing the events. I will have to be better organized next time. This whole social media thing is a little overwhelming at times, but I’m learning!
Luckily, I’m about to get some help in that department. Necro Publications has recently announced the addition of a full time Marketing and PR Manager who will be working with each of Necro’s authors to develop a plan to get more reviews, interviews, and other fun stuff. She has some very interesting ideas for The Timekeepers’ War and I can’t wait to get started! I don’t want to spoil any surprises until we’ve got things finalized, but stay tuned for some exciting new developments.
On that note, if you are a reviewer interested in The Timekeepers’ War or if you would like to schedule an interview, please contact David Barnett [firstname.lastname@example.org] and he will forward your request to Kristie. Thanks for reading!
The Timekeepers War is the debut novel of Saskatchewan based writer, S.C. Jensen, but you wouldn’t know it. Skillfully written and edited, there is no hint that this book is written by anyone other than an author at the top of their game.
We are taken to a disconnected and post apocalyptic world, some hundreds of years into the future. There, people like the protagonist, Ghost, scrabble a hand-to-mouth existence amongst the ruins of the City, living in fear of one another, and of the burning rays of the Sun. Some have moved underground entirely, and these scenes did have resonances with Neil Gaiman’s ‘Neverwhere’ for me.
Unknown to many of the City’s inhabitants, others, considering themselves an elite, moved up, into a guarded luxury undreamt of by those below. This is the Elysian Empire: a dictatorship, run by the tyrannical Ursaar. The Elysian Empire is…
Autumn is, hands down, my favourite time of year. Especially Hallowe’en. In honour of the season, I’m having another Goodreads Giveaway! Five copies of The Timekeepers’ War are up for grabs HERE. The Goodreads Giveaway will close at midnight on October 31, 2014, so get your entries in ASAP! Over 1200 people entered to win in the debut giveaway; let’s see how many entries we can round up this time!
Goodreads Giveaways are always fun. I’ve entered (and won!) my fair share. But I’d also like to offer something up to my fellow bloggers and blog followers. If you’d like to win a copy of The Timekeepers’ War, all you need to do is reblog this post and leave me a comment. If you are following me on Facebook, share and comment on this post. I’ll give away one copy for my WordPress bloggers and one for my Facebook fans. Contest closes at midnight on October 15th, 2014; that way you still have time to enter the Goodreads contest if you don’t win 😉 Good look, book lovers!
Hello everyone! Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet over here for the last few weeks. Fall is a busy season with my “real job,” not to mention garden harvesting, canning, and pre-winter house maintenance stuff. And as much as I love my real life, I’d really really love to be writing right now!
The Timekeepers’ Warhas been out for just over a month now and, as exciting as having my first ever novel out there in the real world is… I’ve been shocked and appalled to realize that the rest of the real world doesn’t go just away so that I can bask in my accomplishment. I’m gaining a new appreciation for all of the successful self-published and small press authors out there who are able to balance their personal and professional lives in this business! I’m going to make it a goal to post here at least once a week and try to go from there.
However, even though I’ve been busy, I’ve been thrilled to see some great reviews coming in on Amazon and Goodreads. Many of my first reviewers are wrapping up, and their feedback has been so positive! I also shipped out books for the winners of my very first Goodreads “First-Reads” giveaway, which ended on September 14th. Over 1200 people entered, and copies went out to readers in California, Georgia, Florida, Nevada, and Northern Ireland; it’s great to see The Timekeepers’ War making friends across the globe (okay, mostly just across the border, but we’re talking baby steps here). A new Goodreads giveaway is pending approval, and will be ending this Halloween. If you’d like to get your hands on a copy, be sure to enter!
If you are a book blogger interested in sci-fi, or are just plain curious about The Timekeepers’ War, please contact me for a review copy. Receiving a review copy in no way limits the type of review you can write. If you hate it (I hope you don’t!) you’re completely free to say so. So even if you’re unsure if The Timekeepers’ War is for you, don’t let that stop you from giving it a try.
Last but not least, thank you to everyone who has purchased a copy and supported my efforts thus far. I hope to have Book Two in The Timekeepers’ War trilogy finished next year. I know some of you are dying to know what happens to Ghost, Lynch, Cutter, and the rest… All I can tell you is that The Children of Bathora is a little darker and a little grittier than Book One. You’re in for a ride!
